Ricciardo qualified seventh for Red Bull on Saturday after a tricky session that saw him fail to match the pace of teammate Max Verstappen in second, prompting the team🍸 to consider taking a 💃grid penalty in order to gain another fresh power unit element.

The FIA stewards confirmed ahead of the race that Ricciardo's car had been fitted with a new internal combustion engine (ICE), turbocharger and MGU-H after qualifying, total꧟ling a 20-place grid drop for the Australian.

Toro Rosso's Brendon Hartley wil🎉l take the same penalty after an issue emerged on his car in qualifying, leaviꦡng him P15 overall, while teammate Pierre Gasly received a five-place grid drop after taking a new turbocharger. As the Frenchman failed to qualify, he will start last regardless.

The penalties mean that Ricciardo will start P16 fo🤡r Red Bull ahead of Hartley in 17th, with the provisional grid's final three positions remaining unchanged as Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne take 18th🍸 and 19th for McLaren ahead of Gasly at the back.
