Thruxton: Ellison breaks wrist at Thruxton, doubt for Cadwell

James Ellison says he is in a race against time to be fit for Cadwell Park after breaking his left wrist in a crash during race one at Thruxton

James Ellison says he is in a race against time to be fit for round eight of the MCE British Superbike championship at Cadwell P꧟ark after breaking his left wrist in a crash during race one at Thruxton.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rideღr, who suffered two broken ribs at Sne☂tterton after crashing in a sudden downpour, endured more bad luck in the opening race at the Hampshire circuit which wrecked his chances any positive results.

While following closely behind Richard Cooper in race one the Anvil Hire TAG K♋awasaki rider's machine suffered engine failure and spat oil on to Ellison's tyres, bike and visor. The Cumbrian rider was powerless to stop a high speed off and after having scans at the track it was confirmed he'd brokenꦰ his left wrist.

Recounting the accident, E💝llison says it was 'possibly the fastest crash I've ever had' and will see a spec🅺ialist on Monday (3rd August) to find out whether he will require surgery.

"The race itself was going well, we were running in the front group and I could see some of the guys in front were beginning to lose grip whereas I was feeling particularly good still," Ellison said. "I moved off line and was about to lift my visor so I could see but the bike came round on me as the tyres were covered in oil and I high-sided.

"It's gut🅰ting and we seem to never have any luck, just like Snetterton it was a crash through no fault of our own which has given us a 💟big setback. It's going to be a race against time to get back for Cadwell."

Deꦜspite his painful and pointless race♏ weekend Ellison holds on to third in the BSB riders' standings as his rivals failed to take full advantage.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider now has less than three weeks to return to fitness before Cadwell Park (21-23 August), but if he is forced to miss the Lincolnshire event will have to refocus a return for round nine ಌat Oulton Par♍k two weeks later (4-6 September).

Ellison joins a list of high-profile riders on the BSB injury list with PBM Kawasaki's Stuart Easton, Honda Racing's Jason ꧑O'Halloran, Milwaukee Yamaha's Broc Parkes and Lloyds British Moto Rap🐼ido Ducati's Jakub Smrz out of action.
