Shane 'Shakey' Byrne ♏narrowly missed the rostrum on his first BSB visit to Croft in North Yorkshire, durin♏g Sunday's the 10th round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
In a treacherously wet second race, Shakey recovered from an uncharacteristic poor start and an early run off the track to chase down the leaders. Byrne would have challenged for third if it hadn't been for an early mistake or if the race - which had been shortened by two laps du🃏e to the weather - had run its full distance.

"In the second race my bike was mega and I was smiling inside my helmet," said the former MotoGP rider, who took fifth in the damp first race. "If I hadn't made a simple mistake and run off the track early on and lostꦏ a lot♏ of time rejoining, then I could have had a podium finish.
"It's another weekend of finishing fourth and fifth. That doesn't make me happy and I n📖eed to break this run of being just behind the podium results, it's not where I want to be, I should be challenging for the wins," he admitted.
