Danny Buchan has topped the opening practice session ahead of the penultimate round of the B♋ennetts British Supe🍒rbike championship with the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki rider ahead of surprise package Joe Francis on the Lloyd & Jones BMW.
After a 30-minute mid-session red flag for suspected track contamination, BSB riders made tentative progress at Donington Park in the switch to the Grand Prix ꦅlayout after using the National circuit earlier this season, with Buchan’s late 1m 40.017s retaining top spot ahead of a l🐭ate surge from Francis.
Andrew Irwiꩲn claimed third place for Honda ahead of an impressive return to BSB action for Taylor Mackenzie as ꦯhe stands in at Tyco BMW this weekend.
Ben Currie also demonstrated a return to form in fifth place for Quattro Plant JG Speedfit Kawasaki ahea🌳d of BSB title contenders Scott Redding and Josh Brookes.
Redding, who claimed a hat-trick of wins at Donington Park earlier this season, edged Be Wiser D💫ucati team-mate Brookes by 0.104s as Dan Linfoot (Sa𒆙ntander Salt TAG Yamaha), Ryan Vickers (RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki) and Christian Iddon (Tyco BMW) completed the top 10.
The remaining BSB Showdown contenders made a slow start to FP1 with Smiths Racing BMW’s Peter Hickman in 13th place just in front of Tarran Mackenzie in 14th place for McAMS Yamaha.
Tommy Bridewell could only reach 19th place for Oxford Racin♋g Ducati, while MV Agusta’s Gino Rea and Buildbase Suzuki duo Bradley Ray and Luke ꧂Stapleford failed to set a lap time in FP1.
