DTM Norisring: Rockenfeller suffers small metatarsal fracture

Audi's Mike Rockenfeller has suffered a small metatarsal fracture to his left foot following an incident which took him oඣut of today's second Norisring DTM race.

Audi Sport confirmed on its Twitter page that Rockenfeller suffered a 🥀small fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone on his left foot.

The Team൲ Phoenix driver was negotiating the Grundig Hairpin when Gary Paffett's severely damaged Mercedes C63 slammed straight into the side of Rockenfeller's Aud༺i RS 5.

Paffett had lost control of his Mercedes whilst battling with Audi's Jamie Green and made heavy contact with Armco barrier heading towards the hairpin as a resul🌺t.

Catas✃trophic damage to his car meant Paffett was powe🌠rless in avoiding Rockenfeller just seconds later.

The pair emerged from the wreckage of their own accord but Rockenfeller immediate🏅ly displayed discomfort with h𒐪is left foot after hopping to the Ambulance.

Both were taken to the Klinikum S?d Hospital in Nuremberg foဣr examination.

Describing the incident, Paffett has expressed his best wishes to Rockenfeller: "That was a ba♎d smash, but I'm fine. I'm sorry that Rocky got hit and injured as a resultဣ. I hope he'll get well soon.

"My special thanks go t෴o all the medics - both at the racetrack and in the hospital. They took🐲 excellent care of me..."
