It has been announced that legendary Formula 1 commentator Murray Walker is to lend his voice to well-loved children's television programme Roary the Racing Car.

The animated show is narrated by British racing hero and 16-time grand prix-winner Sir Stirling Moss, and also f๊eatures the voice of comedian Peter Kay, but the addition of Walker - as himself - will surely only further boost the series' popularity.

The 85-year-old - affectionately nicknamed 'Muddly Talker' within the F1 paddock for his numerous bloopers and gaffes - commentated on grands prix for more than half a century until finally stepp🔯ing down full-time mid-2001 following the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis.

Now a website columnist for the BBC, Walker is quoted by The Sun as having revealed that he had 'great fun' joining in with the two shows in which he will f﷽eature, due to be broadcast on Channel Five and dig🐓ital TV channel Nick Jr in late autumn.
