British Grand Prix: Ricciardo heads FP1 washout

Daniel Ricciardo topped the times in the opening fr⭕ee practice session ahead of the British Grand Prix, with poor weather conditions meaning just eleven drivers posted times during the 90 minute session.
With the rainꦑ not expected to continue into the race weekend, teams elected not to head out on circuit to risk any potential incidents with only limited value from any time spent on track.
As such, most of the session was spent with cars in the garage as drivers elected to head out for sighter lꩲaps before returning to the pits without posting a time.
It was only in the final quarter of an hour that any times were set, with Ricciardo the first man to elect to stay on circuit to complete a 'fast' lap; albeit only stopping🅷 the clocks in a time of over two minu𒉰tes.
The Toro Rosso man would ultimately lower his bench🎀mark time on his final run to 1min 54.249secs to outpace the Sauber of Nico Hulkenberg, with Pastor Maldonado in third for Williams.
Ricciardo was the only dr🐼iver to get into dou🐻ble figures in the session, completing ten laps.
The challenging conditions saw a number of drivers suffer scares on track as they hit standing water, although Charles Pic was the only one to suffer any damage when he went off into the barriers on the exit o💮f the final corner.
Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen was the onlಌy person not to go out on track at all, spending the entire session watching on from the pits.
Team-mate Romain Grosjean, Jenson Button, Mark Webber and Sergio Perez𓄧 all complet🏅ed just a single lap.
