Ralph Firman appears to have escaped relatively unscathed after suffering a massive crash that halted the opening free practice session on day two of the Hungarian Grand Prix🍸.

Despite the Briton having struggled to find speed in the latest Jordan-Ford EJ13 all season, he found h🦩imself with too much pace when the rear wing sheared off the car as he accelerated onto the Hungaroring's back straight. The resultant spin saw the reigning FNippon champion slam into the barriers with some force, destroying the t🐻yre wall in the process.

Although medical workers were on the scene almost immediately, and helped Firman out of what remained of his car, the British rookie was able to remove his own helmet and clamber on🌌to a stretcher unaided. He was then taken to the circuit's medical centre for initial checks before being transferred to a Budapest hospital.

The session, which was just a third of the way through its 45-minute duration was red-flagged while the tyre wall was reꩵbuilt, but re𓂃sumed after only a short delay.
