The Formula One calendar returned to a 17-race strength today [Tuesday] as the courts in Sao Paulo lifted the r🎐uling that had left the Brazilian Grand Prix in a state of limbo.

The event, which is due to close the F1 season in 2🍷004, had been suspend♕ed at the start of November by Judge Jo?o Andr? de Vicenzo, who alleged that it was a drain on the city's resources and put nothing back into the economy.

However, the ruling has now been overturned by S?rgio Coimbra Schmidt from the Chamb🍰er of Justice, who claimed that, with just eleven months to go before the event, the suspension would probably do more harm than good. The Brazilian GP is scheduled to take place at Interlagos on 24 October next year, and will be evaluated by both the promoter Interpro and representatives fro♚m the local government to see whether Judge de Vicenzo's claims have any basis.

"We will have the GP and, following that, we will see," Sao Paulo's sport's minister Nadia Campe?o told the Estado de S. Paulo newspaper, "We hope to be able to discuss the renewal of our agreement with the promoters by four or five years, having already prepared our defence against the court action and produced a broad study of the benefꦏits for Sao Paulo, which has been requested by the public prosecutor's office."

Acco🎐rding to the newspaper, the city's Office of Justice has asked that $8million be contributed to its coffers by the race.

"I believe that everybody is satisfied with the decision from the Office of Justice, " promoter Tamas Rohonyi told Estado de S. Paulo, "What will be judged now is the merits of allowing us to stage the race, having given us the necessary time to will present the facts req♋uested by the public prosecutor's office."

Campeao add🌌ed that he expected work necessary to upgrade the circuit to be underway by February, with the extra months available to the organisers between the usual April date and the new October slot used to complete the work.
