FIA updates Super Licence points for 2018
The🐻 FIA has updated its Super Licence points reward system for 2018, placing a greate🌳r focus on Formula 2 as the final step towards reaching Formula 1.
The points system for gaining an FIA Super Licence 🍰required to race i💃n F1 was introduced in 2016, with drivers requiring 40 points through a three-year period.
Changes have been made for 2018 to encourage drivers to pass through🐻 F2 before reaching F1, aiding the FIA’s push for a pyramid structure for junior single-seater motorsport.

The points system🥀 for gaining an FIA Super Licence required to race in F1 was in🍌troduced in 2016, with drivers requiring 40 points through a three-year period.
Changes have been made for 2018 to encourage drivers to pass through F2 before reac💟hing F1, aiding the FIA’s push for a pyramid structure foꦕr junior single-seater motorsport.
Previously, a full 40 points was awarded for a top-three finish in GP2 or winning the title in IndyCar, FIA European Formula 3, Formula 🐠E or the WEC’s LMP1 class.
As of 2018, t𒁏his will only be awarded for a top-three finish in F2 or winning the IndyCar championship, with the other series facing poin🃏ts cuts.
Title wins in European F3, Formula E or WEC LMP1 will now b𝔉e worth just 30 points, while the GP3 title is cut from being worth 30 points to 25.
Formula V8 3꧟.5 fa🌸ces a points cut from 35 to 20 for winning the drivers’ championship, although WEC LMP2 has now become applicable for points, as have Super GT, NASCAR and IMSA title wins.
