Pierre Gasly felt 'angry' to miss out on 2017 F1 seat to Kvyat

Pierre Gasly has revealed that he felt "angry, disappointed and sad" after initially missing out on a❀ Formula 1 seat at Toro Rosso to ☂Daniil Kvyat for the 2017 season.

Gasly was tipped to take an F1 drive wit🦂h Toro Rosso at the beginning of last season after winning the GP2 title in 2016, only for Red Bull to give Kvyat a reprieve and extend his deal with its B-team.

Pierre Gasly has revealed th🔯at he felt "angry, disappointed and sad" after initially missing out on a Formula 1 seat at Toro Rosso to Daniil Kvyat for the 2017 seaওson.

Gasly was tipped to take an F1 drive with Toro Ros🌄so at the beginning of last season after winning th🐭e GP2 title in 2016, only for Red Bull to give Kvyat a reprieve and extend his deal with its B-team.

Gasly was placed in the Japanese Super Formula series for his main 2017 programme, only to replace Kvyat from the Malaysian Grand Prix onwards due to the Russian's🎃 poor form.

, Gasly was asked about the last time he felt really angry about somethin☂g, with the Frenchman picking the moment he was t🔜old Kvyat would be racing at Toro Rosso in 2017.

"It was in Austin 2016 when [Red Bull F1 advisor] Helmut [Marko] told me that Daniil was si⛎gned for 2017," Gasly said.

"I thought tha﷽t was not fair: I ꦐhad just won the GP2 championship.

"It was a mixture of being angry, ♔disappointed and sad."

♌Gasly impressed enough during his five-race stint with༺ Toro Rosso towards the end of the season to secure a full-time drive for 2018, partnering Brendon Hartley.
