Daniel Ricciardo set the pace through opening practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix, edging out Ferrari Formula 1 rival Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull teammate Max Vers❀tappen by less than one-tenth of a second.

2014 Hungary winner Ricciardo managed to narrowly fi𒊎nish fastest in a close-fought FP1, with his fastest lap of 1m17.613s giving hꦺim top spot by just 0.079 seconds ahead of Vettel in second place.

Ricciardo managed to set his best lap time on the Soft compound tyre, while Vettel's best effort came on the quicker Ultrasofts, although his lap was compromised by traffic. Verstappen also finished w🌸ithin one-tenth of h🐻is teammate by using the Soft tyre, sending out an early warning shot of Red Bull's pace at the Hungaroring.

Kimi Raikkonen trailed behind in fourth place for Ferrari, lapping three-tenths of a second ꧂slower than Ricciardo.

Mercedes struggled to match Red Bull or Ferrari's pace through opening practice in Hungary as Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas finished down in fifth and sixth place respectively. Hamilton was four-tenths back from Ricciardo, with Bottas finishing eight-tenths of a seconಌd off t🐠he pace, having focused on Medium-tyre running throughout the session.

Romain Grosjean led the midfield fight after a late lap for Haas, having beenꦬ sidelined for much of the session by a leak on his car. He finished the session seventh, 1.3 seconds back from Ricciardo.

Nico Hulkenberg managed to finish eighth f🌊or Renault, but saw his session come to an early end after losing power coming out of Turn 5. Hulkenberg parked his car up at the side of the track, leaving him with just 14 laps completed by the end of FP1.

Teammate Carlos Sainz Jr. was able tꦜo rack up some decent mileage in the sister Renault R.S.18 car, finishing the🐬 session ninth. Kevin Magnussen completed the top 10 in the second Haas car.

Pierre Gasly took 11th for Toro Rosso, two places a⛄head of teammate Brendon Hartley, with Fernando Alonso splitting the pair for McLaren. Lance Stroll ended the session 14th for Williams ahead of Force India's Esteban Ocon.

Stoffel Vandoorne enjoyed his first run-out since reverting to an old McLaren cha🔯ssis, finishing the session 16th, half a second off Alono's time. Sergio Perez was 17th for Force India ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi, who enjoyed his second FP1 run-out of the season, deputising f𓄧or Charles Leclerc.

Sergey Sirotkin took 1💞9th ahead of Marcus Ericsson,ও who did well to keep his car out of the wall after a high-speed spin at Turn 4, but could not stop himself finishing at the bottom of the timesheets.
