Lance Stroll takes fresh MGU-K after FP3 hydraulic failure

Lance Stroll has been forced to move onto his second MGU-K of the season following an hydrau💦lic failure du🌠ring final practice for the Canadian Grand Prix on Saturday.

Stroll's engine gave way with a plume of smoke a🦄t the end of the back straight before flames emerged at the rear of his 𝄹car early in FP3, forcing the Racing Point driver to come to a halt in the pit lane.

The teamꦺ returned Stroll to the pits before confir𝔍ming he had suffered an hydraulic fluid leak, preventing him from getting back out before the end of the session.

The team returned Stroll to the pits before confirming he☂ had suffered an hydraulic fluid leak, preventing him from getting back out before the end of the session.

FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer confirmed in a bulletin issued after the sesཧsion that Stroll had taken a fresh MGU-K after the session, moving onto his second and final part of the season. Any further MGU-K usages this year will result in a grid penalty.

Mer🍬cedes is yet to cܫonfirm whether the failure is related to the introduction of its 'Phase 2' engine that both its works and customer teams took heading into the weekend.
