Ricciardo takes updated Renault engine ahead of schedule in France
Renault has confirmed Daniel Ricciardo will move on to it♔s ‘Spec B’ engine for this weekend’s French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard, ahead of the team’s planned schedule.
Renault has brought its first major update package of the season for its R.S.19 car, which will run 🐻with narrower bodywork, nose cape and floor than at previous races.
The team confirmed ahead of opening practice on Friday at Paul Ricar☂d that Ricciardo’s car 🌃would also be fitted with a new engine, offering a boost in performance.

The team confirmed ahead of opening practice on Friday at Paul Ricard that Ricciardo’s car would also be 💝fitted with a n🅰ew engine, offering a boost in performance.
However, teammate Nico Hulkenberg will not use the new engine, as he 𝓰would trigger a grid penalty by doing so after a💫lready hitting the season limit.
“We will introduce a new Spec B ICE this weekend on Daniel’s car. This ICE represenཧ൩ts a good step forward on performance,” Renault F1 chief Cyril Abiteboul confirmed.
“Nico will take his new engine at a different race, but as he will incur a pen꧋alty for exceeding the three ICEs permitted per year, we don’t want it to be in France, our home race.
“The ICE was scheduled for use at a later race, 🥀but we are ahead of schedule, so are pleased to be ableಞ to use it here.”
