Pierre Gasly sa🍨ys one of his career ambitions is to compete at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans having grown up w🐻atching the race.
While the AlphaTauri driver remains committed to his Formula 1 career, as he waits to start his third full campaign in the sport amid the coronavirus crisis, Gasly explained why he is drawn to the iconic enduran💎ce race and hopes to take part in it in the future.
“Obviously I would love to do that,🧸 especially as I lived in Le Mans from when I was 13 until I was 18. I got to see the race as a spectator and then inside the paddock and it is clearly something that excites me. I would love to participate one day,” Gasly said.
F1 drivers have enjoyed recent success at Le Mans, with Nico Hulkenberg winning o🍬n his debut during his short stint competing for Porsche back in 20🅷15, while more recently two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso became a double Le Mans winner with Toyota in 2018 and 2019.
Ga🍌sly took part in an Alph👍aTauri Q&A from Dubai having arrived there from the cancelled Australian Grand Prix.
“We decided to come direct here to train as we planned to before Bahrain. 𒀰We💮 looked at the situation in Italy where I live and the airports were already closing so it wasn’t possible, nor was it possible to go back to France where my family is, and as I had already travelled a lot I didn’t want to risk going back to my family,” he explained.
