The CEO of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Nathalie Maillet, has died aged 51 after being found dead in her home on the border of Luxembourg in a suspected murder.

According to local reports, her body was found alongside another woman a⛎nd a man who was thought to be her husband, with all three having gunshot wounds.

Maillet was appointed CEO of the circuit in 2016 and was instrumental in keeping the iconﷺic circuit on the F1 calendar.

Spa-Francorchamps🎐 is🌞sued a statement after the news.

“ꦡMy thoughts are with Nathalie's family, her parents,🐭 her loved ones and her teams. I know how much this news will upset our teams and I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the entire Circuit team on behalf of the entire board,” the statement read. 

“Today, we are losing a highly respected lady, a true leader who will be greatly missed. Nathalie had be🅷come the face of the Circuit, she embodied the passion for racing that we all share.”

A statement from the FIA read: “The FIA has been saddened to lea꧑rn of the tragic death of Nathalie Maillet.

“Nathalie was the Chief Executive Officer at Circuit of Spa Francorchamps since 2016🦩 during which time she oversaw major development of the iconic race track whi🤪ch hosts a number of FIA championships.

“On behalf of the entire motorsport coꦫmmunity, we wish to extend our condolences to her family and friends.”

The 2021 Belgian Granಞd Prix will take plac🍰e on August 27-29.
