Schumacher excited to race at ‘special’ Spa 30 years after father's F1 debut

Mick Schumacher says he’s excited to take to track at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix because it is 30 years on from his father Michael’s Formula 1 debut, but also a track he has performed well at in the junior series’.

Seven-time champion Michael Schumacher made his F1 debut at t🦋he 1991 Belgian Grand Prix for 💜Jordan.

Mick drove his father’s Jordan 191🅷 earlier in the year 💯at Silverstone.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Belgian GP, he said: “Obviously it is [special], yeah. Not just because of the history of my dad but I’ve ha🌠d a few good races here. I had my first pole position, my first race win in 2018 with F3 which became a streak with multiple race wins.

“It’s a track that I enjoy a lot an༺d I enjoy coming back here. It’s close to home, a lot of fans come here and peop𝐆le support me for numerous years now. It’s a great place.”

Netflix is releasin𒉰g a documenꦇtary titled ‘Schumacher’ - focusing on Michael’s career, with Mick and his family featuring throughout.

It is🌊 set to be released on September 5 and Mick has urged fans to watch♏ it, describing the documentary as “very emotional”.

“It’s going to be a very emotional documentary/film for many peop💞le because it’s brought a lot of people into the sport but also I think when people were growing up they obviously watched my dad,” he added.

“For me, it’s been very emotional to see it but the best thi🍸ng I can say is for everybody to have a look at it and just watch it, experience it for themselves because I don’t re♉ally want to spoil too much.”
