Dutch GP: Max Verstappen to face F1 stewards over alleged FP2 red flag overtake

Max Verstappen has been summoned to the Formula 1 stewards over an alleged overtake under a red flag during second practice for the Dutch Grand Prix.

The Red Bull driver had just started a flying lap🅺 wh🅷en a stoppage for championship rival Lewis Hamilton caused the red flags to be waved during the early stages of FP2 on Friday at Zandvoort.

Verstappen appeared to overtake Lance Strol🌳l between Turns 10 and 11 after the red flag had come out while he was on a push lap and the Aston Martin driv🔯er was on a slow lap.

On Saturday morning ahead of final practice, the stewards requested 🎉Verstappen a🌞nd a team representative to report to them at 1045 local time regarding the incident.

"Alleged breach of Appendix L Ch IV Art 1, Appendix H 2.5.4.1.b of the FIA I💎nternational Sporting Code and Article 50.2 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, alleged overtaking car 18 whilst red flags were shown at 15:10 betw✃een turns 10 and 11.”

If found guilty, Verstappen could be hit with a grid penalty at his home r🌄ace.

Red Bull🗹 team principal Christian Horner downplayed any concern over the incident following second practice on Frid𝄹ay.

“Max, as soon 𒅌as there was a red flag, he backed righ🐟t out of it,” Horner told Sky Sports.

“I can only think he was on a sloꦆw lap anyway. I was watching the data and he was completely outജ of it as soon as he got the message about the red flag.”
