Williams F1 boss Jost Capito to miss Saudi GP after positive COVID-19 test

Williams Formula 1 team principal and CEO Jost Capito will miss this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after returning a positive COVID-19 test result.

Capito, who took over as Williams boss earlier this year following changes made ꧅by new owners Dorilton Capital, tested positive for COVID-19 before travelling to Jeddah and will miss the penultimate round of the season as a result. 

A Williams team statement confirmed Capito is following UK natio⛎nal health authority guidelines, adding “𒀰there has been no wider impact on Williams Racing personnel and the team will continue to operate trackside as planned.”

It marks the second 💫time this season that Capito has misse𝐆d a race weekend for COVID-19-related reasons. 

Capito was also absent f🍸rom the F1 paddock at the💦 Dutch Grand Prix after coming into contact with Alfa Romeo driver Kimi Raikkonen - who tested positive for COVID-19 during the Zandvoort weekend. 

Despite being retested and ꦰreturning a negative result, Capito sat out the remainder of the Dutch GP weekend as a precaution. 

Williams heads into the final two races of the 2021 season sitting eighth in the constructors’ championship, 12 points clear of nearest rival Alfa Romeo.&n🎶bsp;
