Video: The greatest drivers to never win an F1 crown

Following the passing of Sir Stirling Moss earlier this week, we thought it would be appropriate to revisit some of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 who missed out on the c🥂ovetedও championship glory.

Moss is considered to be the greatest world champion Formula 1 never crowned and sits 17th in the overall list of🎀 drivers with most F1 wins as a 16-time grand prix victor, more than the total achieve🌱d of champions including the likes of Jenson Button, Graham Hill and James Hunt.

Following the passing of Sir Stirling Moss earlier this week, we thought it would be appropriate to revisit some of the greatest drivers in Formu🐲la 1 who missed out on the coveted championship glory.

Moss is considered to be the greatest world champion Formula 1 never crowned and sits 17th in the overall list of drivers with most F1 wins as a 16-time grand prix victor, more than the total achieved of champions including the likes of Jenson Button, Graham Hill and🉐 James Hunt.

Inspired♑ by Moss, we’ve selected eight brilliantly-talented drivers throughout history who never quite managed tꦬo claim a world championship title.

Check out our picks in the video below.

As F1’s modern-day ‘nearly man’, Mark Webber came closest to winning the drivers’ title in 2010 but was beaten by Red Bull teammate Sebastian Vettel at the last rac🔜e, while Scottish sensation David Coulthard mustered a trio of third place finishes during his time at McLaren and a best result of runner-up behind Ferrari’s Michael Schumacher in 2001.

Other drivers who came close but didn’t🦂 quite m🍷anage the feat include Carlos Reutemann, Felipe Massa, Rubens Barrichello, Juan Pablo Montoya and Gilles Villeneuve.

Ad𝔉ditional notable mentions must also go to Bruce McLaren, Ronnie Peterson and Jacky Ickx, all drivers who came tantalisingly close to realising their championship dreams.

Do you agree with the drivers we have selected, or is thꦺere s꧅omeone you feel we have missed off?
