F2 Hungary: Ghiotto resists Ilott for sprint race victory

Luca Ghiotto held onto vict๊ory in the FIA Formula 2 sprint race at the Hungaroring after successfully pulling off an alt🍌ernative strategy.
While the maj𒅌ority of his rivals made a tactical pit stop with tyre degradation playing a major factor in the race, Ghiotto rolled the dice by staying out.
The gamble paid off as the Hitech Grand Prix driver fended off the late-charging Callum Ilott to claim his 🌱first F2 win of the 2020 season by just four-tenths of a second.
Ilott closed up to the back of Ghiotto’s car dur⛦ing a tense final lap, but the Ferrari Academy driver simply ran out of road to convert his reverse-grid pole position into the win.
Prema’s Mick Schumacher made it ꦆtwo podiums from two races in Hungary as he took the final spot on the rostrum, some 11secs down o💯n the leaders.
Schumacher beat his Prema teammate and current championship leader Robert Shwartzman, who bagged another strong result toꦫ follow up on his remarkable feature race win.
🃏Nikita Mazepin was fifth for Hitech Grand Prix, ahead of Louis Deletraz ജin the Charouz.
Red Bull-bac♛ked Jehan Daruvala was just three-tenths 💖behind Deletraz in seventh after struggling early on, while Renault F1 protege Guanyu Zhou claimed the final point on offer in eighth.
Rounded out t🐓he top-10 finishers were Marcus Armstrong and Giuliano Alesi, the other two Ferrari Driver Academy memb🐈ers.
Dan Ticktum had a promising start but was the only driver not to finis꧟h the race after being forced into retirement wi🅷th engine trouble.
