Pourchaire, Fittipaldi ‘conscious’, taken to hospital after F2 start crash

Formula 2 drivers Theo Pourchaire and Enzo Fittipaldi have been taken to hospital following a huge crash at the start of Sunday’s feature race.

The race was suspended after a matter of seconds following a serious accident involving ART Grand 🎀Pri🌠x driver Pourchaire and Charouz Racing System’s Fittipaldi, the grandson of two-time F1 world champion Emerson. 

Pourchaire had failed to get off the line after stalling on the grid and was hit at high-speed by the unsigh😼ted Fittipaldi, resulting in a terrifying crash on the main straight.

Both Pourchaire and Fittipaldi wꦿere attended to by medical crews and have since been transferred by ambulance and helicopter respectively to a local hospital. 

An update from the FIA confirmed that both drivers were “conscꦚious” following the accident. 

“The drivers were immedia🐻tely attended to by emergency and medical crews,” an FIA statement read. 

“The drivers 🍬were conscious and extricated by the attending medical crews. Both have been transferred by ambulance and helicopter to King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital, Jeddah.” 

The heavily-delayed race restarted following a lengthy suspension but was cut short by a red-flag inducing crash involving Olli Caldwell and Gui🅷lherme Samaia. Both drivers were not injured in the incident♉.

Championship leader Oscar Piastri was declared the winner to put him on the brink on winning the F2 title in his rookie se🍸ason.
