Williams F1 junior Sargeant gets F2 promotion with Carlin

The American driver was announc✨ed as Williams’ latest signing to its young driver ac🐬ademy during the United States Grand Prix weekend.
Sargeant has spent the l♚ast two seasons in Formula 3, finishing seventh overall in the drivers’ standings in 2021.
He fared better during his first year in the se𝓀ries, finishing third overall, just four points behind Oscar Piastri.
He has already made his de🍃but in F2, racing for HWA Racelab in Saudi Arabia.
“This is an incredible week for me,” Sargeant said. “To get my first taste of the Williams FW43B tomorrow an🌼d then follow that up with three days testing in my new F2 car is just incredible.
“I can’t wait to re-join Carlin who have bee𒐪n so strong in F2 and get to work on our 2022 programme.”
Sargeant’s teammate has yet to be announced with current driver Dan Ticktum switꩵching to Formula E, while Jehan Daruvala’s future is unclear.
“I’m extremely excited to see Logan compete in next year’s FIA Formula 2 Championship,” said Williams Spor🎀ting Director Sven Smeets.
“I know it will be▨ a great experience for him and it’s another key step towards his goal of ꦏracing in Formula 1.
“Logan’s FIA Formula 3 campaigns demonstrated his capab꧒ilities against many talented driveඣrs, proving that he is more than capable of the promotion to Formula 2, and we will do our very best to continue supporting his development throughout the 2022 season.
“I’m also delighted that Williams will continue to be represented on the junior series’ grid, once again highlighting the team’s role🌠 in supporting and nurturing 𝓰young driver talent.”
It’s been a busy day in F2 with Virtuosi Racing announcing Jack Dooha♏n alo🌌ngside Marino Sato.
Doohan impressed in t🐻he final F2 rounds of the seasons for Campos, getting an early taste for 🔯the series after finishing runner-up to Dennis Hauger in F3.
Also, Dutch team, Van Amersf🌜oort Racing will join F2, taking over HWA’s entry from next season.
Founded back in 1975, Van Amersfoort has regularly competed in the junior categories, most notably in the now-defunct European F3 Champ🃏ionship.
2021 F1 💜champion Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc and Mick Schumacher all drove for the team, highlighting its pedigree.
