Alex Lynn will sꦬtart his first Formula E race from pole position for DS Virgin Racing after topping Saturday's qualifying session in Neꦕw York City.
Lynn will lead the field away for the first FIA motorsport event🃏 in New York later today after beating Daniel Abt to P𓂃1 in the Super Pole shootout at the street circuit in Red Hook.
Lynn recorded a fastest lap time of 1:03.296 to finish two-tenths of a second clear of Abt, 𒅌as well as becoming the series' second debutant to score pole following Jean-Eric Vergne in Punta del Este three years ago.
Qualifying acted as a missed opportunity for championship contender Lucas di Grassi, who could only finish 10th as he bids t꧅o capitalise on Sebastien Buemi's no-show and cut the 32-point gap at the top of the standings.
Sam Bird took fourth place for DS Virgin ahead of Dr🌄agon's Jerome d'Ambrosio, while Nick Heidfeld was sixth for Mahindra. NextEV NIO drivers Nelson Piquet Jr. and Oliver Turvey took P7 and P8 respectively, while Nicolas Prost was ninth for Renault e.dams. Buemi's stand-in and Red Bull Formula 1 junior Pierre Gasly qualified a lowly 19th.
