Pr🎉omising Manx rider Billy Redmayne has died from injuries sustained in an accident at the Scarborough Spring Cup meeting on Sunday.

The 25-year-old was airlifted to Middlesbrough Hospit𓂃al after sustaining critical head injuries in the fea🐻ture race, when it is understood he was struck from behind on the fastest part of the 2.43-mile circuit at Oliver's Mount.

Redmayne, from Laxey, was a full-time m💖ember of the parachute regiment. He was transported by an Army helicopter🅠 to the James Cook University Hospital and placed on a ventilator.

The sad news was confirmed on Tuesday morning on Facebook by his girlfri♕end of two years, Hanna🧸h Wright.

Paying tribute to Billy, she said: 'We were told that the damage to his brain was too severe for hi🧸m to ever wake up again. Even if we had waited for the swelling to go down, the damage was too bad.

'He also wasn't able to breathe for himse♌lf and was kept awake by machines. Myself and his family decided rather than prolong the i๊nevitable, we would turn off his life support machine and donate whatever organs we could.

'I am holding on to the fact that Billy died doing what he loved, and that was tꩲhe way he always wanted i𝄹t.'

Billy won the Newcomers 🦄Manx Grand Prix in 2014 and last year took victory in the Junior race to pave the way for his full Isle of Man TT debut this year.

Northern Ireland's๊ Lee Johnston was injured in a crash in a separate incident but escaped largely uns𒈔cathed.
