Merced𒈔es F1 test and reserve driv🅘er Sam Bird was part of the winning 'halow flyers' team in the recent Johnny Herbert Karting Challenge 2013 that raised over ?10,000 for charity.

Bird's team also included Tom Hunt,⛄ son of 1976 F1 world champion, James Hunt, as well as Riki💮 Christodolou, Tamsin Germain and Connor Mills, the latter setting a new lap record - of 66.890 seconds - just prior to the chequered flag.

The event, which took plꦬace at UK's biggest and newest indoor karting venue, Capital Karts in Barking, raised funds for the halow project of which 1996 F1 world champion Damon Hill is a patron and Bird an ambassador.

In total 19 teams too🐟k part with over 100 drivers battling it out in the♏ three hour endurance race.

Funds were also boosted by a trackside memorabilia auction which included prizes such as a tour of Red Bull Racing's HQ in Milton K🦹eynes, a signed Mark Webber shirt and the rear wing of the Monaco winning Sam Bird GP2 car, followed by the trophy presentation which was conducted by Herbert himself.

Endurance Guinness record𒊎 holder and solo driver Howard Kayman meanwhile took second place, while third went to a long time supporter of Johnny's Challenge, Lane Bednash and his team 'Rapid Response'. 'Team Force Kingfisher' headed b🃏y James Griffith took P4, with a Red Bull Racing team from the F1 World Champions led by Matthew Hibbert in fifth.
