Russia: Moscow event cancelled

The second World Superbike race and the World Supersport race at the Moscow Raceway have been cancelled.

The second World Superbike race and World Supersport race at the Moscow R🦹aceway has been cancell🐎ed, it has been confirmed.

The first World Superbike race ran to full distance despite rain worse💙ning as it continued, but while the following World Supersport race did manage to get underway in fully wet conditions, a huge accident on the back straight during the opening 🙈lap prompted a red flag.

The announcement came in the ꦗwake of a horrifying accident for Go Eleven Kawasaki competitor Andrea Antonelli, the WSS rider who fell on the back straight and ꦐwas struck by the unsighted Lorenzo Zanetti.

UPDATE:
It was later confirmed that Antonelli had succumbed to his injuries after suffering a fatal cranium base fracture. He was 𓂃pronounced dead at 2.10pm local time.

The remainder of the event was cancelled as a mark෴ of♍ respect.
