Southern 100: Rider killed during practice is named

The competitor killed during practice for tꦬhe Southern 100 road races on the Isle of Man yesterday evening has been named a𝓰s David Jukes from Douglas on the island.
The accident happened on the approach to Ballakeighan during the Supersport 600cc session at around 7.15pm on the fir🌟st night of the four-day race festꦗival at the Billown course near Castletown.
Mr Dukes was 46🌳. He leav🐲es behind a partner, Cath, and a young son, Simon.
A statement issued by the organisers said: "The Southern 100 MCRC, organisers of the Southern 100 International Road Races, regret to announce the death of David Jukes, from Douglas, Isle of Man following an in🉐cident at Ballakaighan during the 600cc practice session.
"Southern 100 Racin🔥g extends its sincere condolences to families, relatives and friends at this very sad time."
The practice session was abandoned following the🌳 accide🌼nt.
An investigation inis underway and the Cor🅷oner of Inquests on the Island has been informed.
Last night, an appeal was made to spectators who witnessed the accident to contact police at Port Erin Police Station on (01624) 6༒31520.
Northern Ireland's Michael Dun𝓡lop had set the fastest time on his Honda TT Legends Superbike.
Final pract♒ice and the opening two races are due to take place on Tuesday evening. The event concludes on Thursday with the main championship races.
