English rid🥃er Lee Vernon has d🌱ied following an accident at the Dundrod 150 road races in Northern Ireland.

The 24-year-old from Stoke-on-T🅠rent was involved in an incident in the final race of the day, the Dundrod 150ꦚ Superbike event, on Thursday.

His tragic death was confirmed by the race organisers, Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club, i♔n a statement this evening.

The statement said: "It is with much sadness that the Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club confirm that Lee Vernon has passed away in hospital following an incident during the Dundrod 150 road races on Thursday.

"Lee, a 24 year old rider from Stoke-on-Trent, was taking part in the Superbike race👍 when the tragic incident happened."

Noel Johnston, the Clerk of the Course ♑at the Ulster Grand Prix meeti💃ng, paid tribute to the young English rider.

"I am deeply saddened by the news of Lee's death. H🅘e first came to Dundrod as an 18-year-old novice and has been back every year since.

"He was a lovely lad and a credit to the sport and to his family. He will be sor🍷ely missed."

Lee's family have asked that their privacy be respected as they attempt to come to terms with their loss.

They have decided to go along with Lee's wishes for his organs to be donated, so that his memory can live on.

Lee's family would like to convey their thanks to everyone who has offered their support and to the people who have provided practical help at this difficult time.

The Dundrod Club also extended 'hear🍸tfelt sympathies' to Lee's family and circle of friends.

Tꦏhe Dundrod♒ 150 meeting is part of the international Ulster Grand Prix road races, which take place tomorrow.
