Elena Myers makes further history

Elena Myers, who rode Suzuki's GSV-ꦐR bike on the eve of last yea🐼r's Indianapolis Grand Prix, took another small step towards her dream of becoming the first female MotoGP rider by making history at Daytona.
"Any girl in MotoGP w𝔍ould be good, but I hope I'm the first," said Myers after the Indianapolis app✅earance. "That's my goal, and I'm trying hard every day to get there."
Already the first female to win an AMA pro road race, in the SuperSport class at Infineon in 2010, Myers is now the first female to win a professional motorsports r💃ace at the Daℱytona International Speedway.
Sixth in Friday's opening SuperSport race, the 18-year-old learned from her mistakes, which caused her to get shuffled 𝓀back on the final lap, and put herself in exactly the ri𒉰ght spot to take advantage of the draft and capture the Saturday win by 0.239sec.
"I just won Daytona!" said Myers. "Pretty crazy way to start the season. Man, I d✤idn't think I was going to do it when I was coming down the straight, but somehow I pulled it off. The craziness of Daytona! I was hoping to get a win this weekend and I can't thank Suzuki and my te🐬am enough for doing a great job."
Myers finished fifth overall in the 2011 AMA Pro SuperSport West Division, despite missing two rounds due to inj𒐪ury.
