For the first time in HPDC V8 Supercar Series history - and for the first time 🦩since Lakeside in 1998 - Dick Johnson Racing has achieved a race one-two after Dean Canto led home team-mate Will Davison to take tꩲhe opening HPDC V8 Supercar race of the weekend.

Canto was a run away winner and new boy Davison kept his more꧅ fancied oppos꧒ition at bay for the entire race to take the honours relatively easily.

The start of the race was marred by a three car pile up on the starting line that had the rest of the grid on ho♋ld, positioned by the race safety car at turn six. Once the debris was cleared away the race was re-started behind the safety car.

Immediately Cant🍰o took control of the race and secured 🌄an easy victory.

"The team was quick to po🐓int out that I've now won six out of nine races so far in the series this year," he said. "But I'm not counting the final two races at Wakefield earlier in the year. But seriously it was ౠanother strong win, the Gatorz Ford felt fantastic.

"I'm also very happy for Will, he drove very well. It was g꧑ood to have a wing man and someone to separate me from Warren Luff and Adam Macrow. Obviously I need to make up as many points asꦬ possible to have a chance of taking out the Championship."

Will Davison was just as happy with his drive, his first race since the Grand Prix at the start of 🌺the seaso♛n.

"Apparently I am a part of a DJR one-two that hasn't been done since 1998, how good is that!" he said. "It was so good to be racin👍g again. I stayed relaxed and looked to get some good rhythm going. It was pretty positive for the team to keep the gap on Luffy. I felt I had his measure and never felt threatened. I had a marker on the track which gave me a good indication of how far behind he was, and if he was getting closer. It kept to about two seconds, which he wasn't able to lower.

"I suppose you've just got to check the fastest time splits, we were pretty even. But, ꦯit was a great race and just fantastic for the team to have this result."

Of the 22 𓆉cars that took part in the reverse grid second race later in the afternoon, Canto and Davison started🍒 21st and 20th respectively and Grant Denyer started in twelfth after a tenth place finish in the opening race of the day.

Denyer had a spin on the fourth lap losiꦓng him several positions but by the same𓂃 point, Canto had risen to fourth and Davison seventh.

While attempting to overtake on lap nine Canto came into contact with Luff and locked up his rear wheels, spinning in the process. Canto went from fourth to eighth but recovered to finish fifth. Davison was consistently strong ﷽for the entire race and finished third behind Ma𓆉crow and Luff while Denyer finished tenth.
