Seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher end an ultra-successful 💦season with another accolade, after German television viewers voted him as the country's top sportsman of the 20th century.

The Ferrari driver saw off challenges from two of Germany's mostಞ famous female sports stars, with Olympic canoe gold medallist Birgit Fischer taking second place and tennis star 🐟Steffi Graf third in a poll contributed to by over 100,000 people. Schumacher also beat a host of soccer names, with Franz Beckenbauer only fourth, Gerd Muller ninth and current national goalkeeper Oliver Kahn tenth.

No othe🦂r motorsport participants featured at the top end of the poll, with Ralf Schumacher joining other figures from history amongst the also-rans.

War years boxer Max Schme🎃ling, cyclist Jan Ullrich, swimmer Franzi🌜ska van Almsick eighth all featured in a diverse top ten.
