Greg Ray once again fell foul of th✤e concrete walls at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway when he tagged the outside wall in Turn Three in an effort to hold off a charging Michael Andretti, the light brush doing enough to damage his suspension.

Yet another pre-race favourite, Greg Ray, found his Indy 500 hopes disappearing before his eyes during the first half of the 2001 event when another small mistake from the 1999 Indy Racing Northern Light Series Champion ended his dreams of a f🌠irst IMS success.

With rain closing in on the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the prospect of having the race called after 101 of ꦬthe scheduled 200 laps, Greg Ray found himself fending off a hungry Michael Andretti as spots of rain made the track ever so slippery.

The pressure proved to be too much for Ray, who assumed t💎he lead when Mark Dismore encountered his gearbox problems, and the Team Menard driver gave the Turn Three wall a slight nudge allowing Andretti into the lead on lap 103.

Although Ray in♍itially appeared to be unscathed, he soon started slowing down and was past for second by Gil De Ferran before qui🥀ckly dropping down the leaderboard as car after car swept past.

Although the ꦑteam are still hopeful of getting their driver to the finish it appears as though Ray's miserable Indianapolis luck continues to haunt him as he attempts to see the chequered flag at IMS for the first time in five attempts.
