Glenn Irwin has topped th🅰e opening free practice session at Brands Hatch after seeing off a charge from both McAMS Yamaha riders Josh Brookes and Tarran Mackenzie.

The Be Wiser Ducati rider notched up an early fastest lap time of 1m 25.523s which remained unbeaten for the remainder of the morning session with teams fꦅocusing on set-up work switching from the tight and twisty Knockhill to the longer and flowing Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit layout.

Irwin’s top time came under threat from 2015 Bennetts British Superbike champion Brookes with his last-lap&🍎nbsp;flyer moving him to just outside one-tenth of the Be Wiser Ducati rider. Brookes’s time did displace teammate Mackenzie from an impressive second place but the BSB rookie held ♎on to third ahead of Anvil Hire TAG Yamaha’s James Ellison.

Luke Mossey led the JG Speedfit Kawasaki charge in fifth, recovering from his rib injuries suffered last month at Snetterton, ahead of Tyco BMW’s Chrisitan Iddoꦐn with half a second splitting the top six.
