Team BMW's Colin Turkington has extended his British Touring Car Champ𓂃ionship points lead to over 4𓃲0 points after heavily outscoring his title rivals at Knockhill.

The two-time BTCC champion arrived at 🤪Knockhill with a four-point lead over Tom Ingram in second. However, that gap has now increased to 43-points over Ingram, while reigning champion Ashley Sutton sits 51-points back in third.

Turki𝓡ngton never left the top🍃-four in each of the three races, while Sutton and Ingram were both hit with post-race exclusions from the second race after both of their cars failed the mandatory ride-height test.

"I’m very pleased with my weekend. Fourth and two second place finishes is an excellent score. In these circumstances and 🌺type of weather it’s very difficult out there," said Turkington.

"I didn’t know what to expect in t𝓀he morning. You don’t set your expectations too high. I knew from pretty ear🀅ly on that we had a racy car. You could see that from race one. I was able to go forward.

"We just played to our strengths all weekend. We didn’t have the fastes🍒t car, but we had a good car and that meant I go forward, particularly in race one and three♑.

"Race two was more difficult but the conditions were so dangerous and risky꧒ tha🅠t I had to keep a bit in hand."

The BMWs had previously struggled during the previous wet running at Snetterton, but Turkington felt that ꦺwas an 'isolated case' as the 1 Series proved to be one of the strongest packages in the torrential rain at Knockhill.

"I think we’ve got our head around that a little bit. We’ve had no problem in the wet before from years gone by. We were ve🌃ry fast at Brands Hatch Indy in the wet," Turkington continued.

"At Snetterton we struggled, but we knew that was an isolated case. We knew th𝕴ere was a quick car there in the wet and it was clear today. We have a good package."
