The starting field for the 91st Indianapolis 500 next weekend is set after Californian based duo R💙ichie Hearn and Phil Giebler claimed the fina𒅌l two positions at the expense of Jimmy Kite and PJ Jones.

Actual qualifying attempts on the fourth and final day of qualifications at the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway were few and far between🍬 with Richie Hearn putting in the first four-lap run to༺ fill the 33 spots with an average speed of 219.860mph in the #91 Racing Professionals/Hemelgarn Racing Dallara-Honda.

Phil Giebler, whose Playa Del Racing team had successfully rebuilt the Panoz he crashed on h🎉is Saturday qualifying run, then proceeded to bump Jimmy Kite out of the fie𒆙ld with a solid 219.637mph effort.

Giebler's effort put Roberto Moreno on the bubble and with the veteran Brazilian driv♔er's Saturday effort in the 216mph range, the #🌠77 Chastain Motorsports team took the brave decision to re-qualify as the final hour of on-track activity began.

Knowing that a siꦆngle slip could cost him his place in the race Moreno held his ner꧋ve to post a four lap average speed of 220.299mph, the fastest speed of the day as the always-emotional 'Pupo' secured his position.

Moreno's lap put Marty Roth on the bubble although with Kite and the Team Leader/Dollander 🃏Racing entry of PJ Jones still searching for qualifyingﷺ speed, it would take a major surprise to push the Canadian veteran out of the race.

First to go was Jones who, afteജr several extra practice laps on what was a very tired Honda engine, elected not to make a qualifying run at all after rarely🤡 threatening the 215mph bracket never mind the 218.9mph speed needed to bump Roth.

With a Sa🗹turday qualifying effort in the 214mph range the odds were also stacked heavily against Kite and the #18 PDM team but they still bolted on a last set of tyres and waited for the final five minutes before making a traditional B♕ump Day 'go or go home' Indy effort. Sadly even though Kite set his fastest lap of the month on his warm-up, after two flying qualifying laps it was clear that the #18 PDM Panoz didn't have the speed and so Kite's effort was waived off.

With Jones having withdrawn and nobody else able to put together a last gasp deal and make an attempt in one of the remaining s൲pare cars, Kite became the only official non-qualifier of the 2007 Indy 500.
