2025 Spanish MotoGP: Friday Practice As It Happened

MotoGP kicks off it's European le𒐪g this weekend with the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez. 

FP1 this morning was topped by Aleಞx Marquez who was the only ridﷺer in the 1:36s thanks to a late time attack.

The one-hour Pra🎀ctice session that will decide the 10 riders which wil💫l advance straight to Q2 tomorrow is scheduled for 15:00 local time.

Yamaha is targeting a MotoGP wildcard for its V4 engine later this year, according to according to t👍he Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, Paolo Pavesio.

Speaking to MotoGP.com during Practice today, Pavesio said: “The target is to make the [V4] bike as good as possible and, as soon as the bike [is] ready, to challenge ourselves ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚin a wildcard."

He added that the engine could be raced as soon as next year if♎ it proves to be more competitive than the current inline-four engine.

Alex Marquez tops Practice

The chequered flag is out inℱ ꧒Jerez and it's Alex Marquez who completes a sweep of Friday's practice sessions.

Bagnaia second and Franco Morbidelli in third place, while Marc Mar𝓰quez takes fourth.

Quartararo is the top-non-D🔯ucati in fifth, ah🌃ead of Aldeguer, Zarco, Acosta, Di Giannantonio, and Mir who completes the top-10.

Marc Marquez perhaps the rider most affected by yellows in this session. He hasn't improved yet on his second time attack but just st🧔artin🍷g a final lap now, although it's no improvement in the first sector.

Quartararo gets the factor🐠y Yamaha back in the top-10 in fifth, and immediately sends it into th♉e gravel at turn one with less than a minute left on the clock.

Quartararo was on an incredible lap, 0.3s up after three splits but he folded the front in the final corner. A big shame for the F𓆉renchman but he looks ok a🐽t least.
