2008 MotoGP Rookie of the Year, Jorge Lorenzo, said he is 'really happy' to have the same tyres as everybody els꧒e now, after riding with Bridgestone rubber for the first time on Monday at Valencia.

The Estoril race winner, who spent his debut premier-class season with Michelin, finished the first day of single-tyre action seve💝nth out of the 18 riders present.

Lorenz🦹o's best lap time was one second from test pace setter Casey Stoner, but 0.334sec under the #48💦's fastest race lap - set on his way to eighth in Sunday's season-ending grand prix.

The Spaniard was also the fastest of those riders making tဣheir Bridgestone debut on Monday, despite a small fall (pi෴ctured) from the prototype version of Yamaha's 2009 M1.

"I am really happy today because now everyone has the same tyres," he declared. "I tried a test bike with some new parts💯 and today we were just working on collecting information and understanding the new things. I think it was a good day and I made som🦂e good laps, so I am quite happy.

"I had a crash in the a🦄fternoon which was my mistake, it was at turn twelve an🧸d I opened the throttle too much when the tyre was cold, but I was not hurt and we were able to continue," he explained.

"[On Tuesday] we will try again with the new tyres and keep working and collecting information. Of course we need more time to be able to understand them and evaluate them properly,👍 this is just the first day but we will go step-by-step.

"There is a long time before the new season but I am excited that we have started work already."

Lorenzo's world championship winning team-mate Valentino Rossi was 0.6sec fasteಞr than him on Monday, in thir𓆉d position.
