Sam Lowes suffers shoulder injury at Jerez test
Sam Lowes has been ruled 🔴out of the remainder of the Jerez tests after sustaining a fractured and dislocated right shoulder and faces a race against time to be fit for the 2020 season-opener in Qatar.
The Marc VDS Moto2 rider suffered a crash at this week’s private Jerez test and was taken to Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona to be a𝓰ssessed by favoured MotoGP Doctor 🐎Xavier Mir.

The Marc VDS Moto2 rider suffered a crash at this week’s private Jerez test and was taken to Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona to be assessed by favoured MotoGP Doctor꧑ Xavier Mir.
Following a series of medical tests, the team has confirmed Lowes has sustained a fracture and dislocation to his right shoulder, with the top of the humerus b💜one fractured and the ligaments within the shoulder socket have been ruptured.
Lowes will u🔯ndergo radiological and ultrasound tre🍸atment before beginning his physical rehabilitation.
The reigning Moto2 world champions also confirmed Lowes “is well, considering the unfortunate circumstances, and remains positive”, and has been given an es𓄧timated recovery timeframe of four weeks which depends on the speed of the recovery process.
As a result, Lowes will be ruled out of the pre-season Jerez test (Fe🌜bruary 19-21) and is likely to also miss the Qatar test (February 28-March 1), leaving the British rider facing a tricky recovery timeframe for the 2020 opening round at the Losail International Circuit on March 6-8.
Lowes has joined Marc VDS for the 2020 Moto2 world championship and is joined by Augusto Fernandez who became the 11th-hour replacement for Alex Marquez w🥀ho has stepped up to MotoGP at Repsol Hond꧟a.
The British rider also missed the team’s 2020 season launch at Jerez due to the injury as it officially presented💦 its M﷽oto2, Moto3, MotoE, Junior Moto3 and European Talent Cup squads.
