Malaysia progressed to the 'recovery' stage of its coronavirus plan yesterday, allowing sport and recreational ♍activities (such as the track day), although sporting events are still banned. The borders also remain closed to non-Malaysians.
The recovery phase will remain in place until August 31, after which a further easing of restrictions is e🌟xpected should coronavirus cases continue to fall.
Malaysia was due to hold its MotoGP at Sepang on🐬 November 1, but Dorna's Carmelo Ezpeleta has now said that any flyaway races possible this season will be held after all of the European events, in a window🐼 from mid-November to mid-December.
Sepang is one of four flyaway rounds not yet officially cancelled and, along with Buriram ༺in Thailand, is seen as having the be🌊st chance of going ahead. However, Ezpeleta made clear neither will happen unless fans are allowed to attend, due to cost reasons.
A revised calendar featuring the 'final' line-up of Europea🌊n circuits and dates - starting with Jerez in mid-July - is expected this week. A decision on any flyaways should be made by August.
