The Red Bull Ajo team has confirmed that Moto2 title contender Jorge Martin tested positive for Covid during his pre-Mꦚisano screening.

It means that the Spaniard, currently joint second in the Moto2 standings, will be forced to miss t🦂his weekend's round.

'Jorge Martin has b♍een unable to travel to San Marino due to a positive test for COVID-19,' the Ajo team confirmed💝.

'The Spaniard ♍feels well and is quarantined at home, respecting the safety protocolღs of the health authorities.

'Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2𒁏 team hope that he will be able to make a speedy return to the paddock to continue the great work done at recent rounds.'

Martin, set to join Pramac Ducati in MotoGP for 2021, is the first world championship rider to test positive so far🦂 this season. The Ajo team did not state if he can potentially return fo꧟r next weekend's second Misano event.

Meanwhile, a second positive case announced at Misano is a mechanic from an unidentified team. Like Martin, the mechanic had 🦩;no🍨t entered the paddock.

'Two individuals set to attend the Gran Premio Lenovo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini have tested positive for Covid-19.

'As already confirmed by his team, one of the individuals is Moto2 rider Jorge Martin (Red Bull KTM Ajo). There has also been one positive result returned for a mechanic from a different team.

'Both are asymptomatic and are now safely in isolation. They have not entered the paddock for the event and will not be able to attend the San Marino Grand Prix.

'We wish them a speedy recovery, and hope to see them back in the MotoGP paddock soon.

'MotoGP has undertaken more than 14,000 tests for Covid-19 since before the Spanish Grand Prix and has safely detected and isolated each positive case diagnosed.'
