Brad Binder w👍ill need to serve a Long Lap penalty during the for✱thcoming Valencia MotoGP race, as punishment for a collision with Jack Miller on the opening lap of Sunday's Aragon Grand Prix
Starting just behind Miller in 15th, t🎉he MotoGP rookie hit the back of the Pramac Ducati rider on entry to Turn 2, taking them both down and out. Binder admitted responsi🔜bility afterwards, apologising to Miller and his Pramac team.
"It was a big mistake on my behalf and I’m so sorry to wipe out Jack’s raꦿce. I want to apologise not only to my team ൩but also to his," Binder said.
The South African, winner at Brno, added that he was especially frustrated to have done a similar thing twice, having previously c♊aused Miguel Oliveira to fall at Turn 1 in Andalucia.🌳
While unpunished at Jerez, the FIM Stewards ruled that at Aragon the factory KTM rider was 'found to be riding in an irresponsible manner, causing a crash' and thus guilty of 'contravening' the ru⭕le that states 'Riders must ride in a responsible manner which does not cause danger to other competitors of participants'.
A Long Lap penalty usually costs a rider around 3-4 seconds depeꦅnding on the circuit.
Binder's third non-score of the season has left him♏ twelfth in the world championship, but with Repsol Honda's Alex Marquez also crashing out the pair remain tied on points for Rookie of the Year honours with three rounds to go.
Miller's fourth DN🐻F has left hi꧑m ninth in the standings.
