Portugal MotoGP: ‘Weight has been lifted’ for Quartararo after first Factory win

Fabio Quartararo heads into the first European race of the 2021 MotoGP season off the back of a commanding win at the Doha Grand Pr♏ix.
Much like his team-mate Maverick Vinales d🎀id in round one, Quartararo had to carve his way through the front group to claim the team’s second win from two at Losail.
With Quartararo and Vinales each taking a win and fifth place finishes, it means the pair head into this weekend’s Port📖uguese Grand Prix tied for second in the championship ཧstandings on 36 points.
Speaking ahead of a return to Portimao, Quartararo said: "Winning the second race in Doha was fantastic! Now that 𒅌I have collected my first win with the Factory team, I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
"After the fir🎶st one, I feel like I can focus even better on the task aheꦓad, but it also makes me even more excited for this weekend."
Aside from Franco Morbidelli, Yamaha riders including Quartararo endured a difficult season finale at Portimao in 2020, as the Frenchman could only manag♉e 14th place.
"Last year I had a difficult race at the Portimao c💮ircuit. It‘s differe♊nt from all the other tracks, but that also makes it interesting," added Quartararo.
"I‘m ver🧔y curious to see if this weekend🥀 we can be as fast as we were in Qatar."
With the improvements Yamaha have seemingly made in 2021, particu🔴larly with the chassis and front end feel, a good result Sunday woul🌠d surely provide the validation Yamaha wants, regarding their 2021 package being more consistent at different race tracks compared to last season’s bike.
