Official: Jake Dixon to make MotoGP debut at Silverstone

Jake Dixon will make h🔯is MotoGP debut at next weekend’s British Grand Prix, Petronas SRT have confirmed.
The Moto2 rider has already been heavily linked with the Yamaha outfit rꦺegarding a possible 2022 MotoGP ride; this is l𒉰ikely to serve as an audition for that seat, while Cal Crutchlow has been elevated to the factory team in place of Maverick Vinales.
This all stems from Yamaha and Vinales mutually agreeing to cut short their contract agreement today - thus forgoing the remaining 2021 r💖aces together.
Rumours of Dixon stepping in at Petronas SRT for the British MotoGP began at last weekend’s 🍎🅷AustrianGP, while Xavi Vierge is expected to do the same at his home round of Aragon in September.
Speaking about the news, Dixon said: "It’s been a lifelong goal to make it into the MotoGP class. So to get the opportunity to do it for one GP this year, on the bike that꧃ I always wanted to – the Yamaha YZR-M1 – and to do it at home is something really special.
"It is going to be very difficult but I’m looking forward to jumping on the big bike, even though it’s different, and it’s very exciting! I haven’t been able to sleep because I’ve just been thinking💫 about it.&ꦍnbsp;
"It’s a dream come true. I’m going to give my all to do the ⛦best I can for the team and I want to say a ma💃ssive thank you to them for this opportunity.
"Also to Yamaha for believing in me as well. I don’t have any targets, I’m just aiming to enj⛦oy it and gather all the experience I can.
"I just want to wish Franco a speedy recov🐻ery and that we can see him back at the track soo♋n."
