MotoGP FP2 session delaye🦄d and then cancelled after 15-minutes due to torrential rain at Phillip Island.

Only six riders set a lap time this afternoon, all ꦿof which were♒ significantly slower than in FP1.

Va𝄹lentino Rossi's best morning lap times were cancelled due to a 'technical infringement', after exceeding the maximum number of laps (10) set by Michelin for the extra-soft wet front tyre.

That means the Italian will now g𓂃o into Saturday just 20th on combined timesꦐ, having been 2nd quickest on the extra-soft front.

Only the top ten riders after FP3 receive direct access to Qualifying 2. It is not yet clear if FP2 will be restarted on Saturday morning, or simpl🐈y abandoned.

UPDATE: FP3 will be ex🌃tended by 15-minutes to compen꧙sate for the loss of FP2 track time.

Nicky Hayden is making his second MotoGP appearance of the season - this time returning to the Repsol Honda teജam with which he won the 2006 world championship, as a replacement for the injured Dani Pedrosa.

Hector Barbera is riding for the factory Ducati team in place of the injured Andrea Iannon🃏e for the second week in succession, with 2015 Australian SBK champion Mike Jones in-turn keeping the Avintia seat for his home race...
