Decina Racing's Warr💦en Luff will step out of his Ford V8 Supercar and into a 2005 Porsche Boxster S to contest the Alphera Dutton Rally in Sydney this weekend.
Luff, who is currently fifth in the HPDC V8 Supercar Series, just 42 points behind the lead, will ✱join Motor magazine deputy editor Dean Evans to contest the event.
Joining Evans in a co-driving capacity, Luff is excited by the prospect of challenging a new course and believes the Boxster S is capable of giving the pair a shot at♊ the overall team title.
"We will certainly be pushing," said Luff. "It is a fun event but all the other entries are really competitive and we know that fro♎m an overall team's perspective we actually stand a pretty good chance of victory.
"While the V8 Supercar is my strong focus this year, with the ಌsix-week gap between rounds, and the opportunity to drive a Boxster, it wasn't exactly a🥀 hard choice to jump on board with Dean."
The Porsche Australia Boxster S, launched earlier this year, will run stock standard producing 206kW from its 3.2-litre mid-mounted flat-six c🅰ylinder.
Luff and Evans have previously paired up in the one-make Mitsubishi Mirage Series. As teammates🏅, the pair dominated the 19𒆙99-2001 Mirage one-make series with Luff winning the 1999 and 2000 championships, and Evans winning the 2001 championship.
The pair also combined in a Peugeot at the 2000 Bathurst 3 Hour, to finish runner-up behind 🅺Greg Murphy/Steven Richards❀.
This will be the 2004 V8𒉰 Supercar Rookieജ of the Year's third Dutton experience, after previously contesting the Melbourne rally with good friend James Dutton in a Mini Cooper.
"I have done the Melbourne rally twice, but I haven't tackled the Sydney one yet," sa꧋id Luff.
The competitive Luff and Evans are aiming 🌟to exploit the strengths of the Boxs🐷ter S and offer a challenge to reigning NSW and Queensland Champions, Martin Notaras and Simon Arthur's Mitsubishi Evolution VIII.
"Obviously all the race track based stuff i🎃s going to be reallไy good for the Boxster and a lot of the small auto tests that are pretty tight will definitely suit the car.
"The Boxster is such a good overall balanced package and chassis it will be a lot of fun to throw it arounꦰd.
"We are goin🌃g out there to win for sure, it's why we g🅰o motor racing," said Luff.
This weekend's round of the Alphera Dutton Rally Series takes place around the tracks, streets and motorkhans of Goulburn and Canberra o🐭n the Friday and Saturday with the final day of competition✅ being held around Eastern Creek Raceway on Sunday.
