The death of Jones shoc🦄ked the motorsport world and tributes to the fallen ꦑrider are planned amidst this weekend's activities.
Importantly for championship leader Pitt, who unavoidably struck Jones when he came off hi♛s bike, he has received encouragement from Jones' family to continue striving for this year's title.
"Of course, since Brands Hatch, Craig Jones has been on everyone's mind𝓡 but I've spoken to his family a couple of times and I've received a lot of encouragement from his father," he revealed. "I haven't had too much of a holiday but it feels like it's been a long break and it's time to g꧃et back on the bike again."
A return to🌸 Donington Park for Pitt and his Ten Kate team-mate Jonathan Rea, after they competed in the British Championship earlier this season, Pitt is confident of extending his comfortable advantage at the top of the table.
"I like Donington, but before we did the wildꦫ-card in the British Supersport champion𒆙ship this year, I hadn't been there for about five years. But that test went pretty well and we were fast in practice, although the bike developed a slight electrical problem in the race. I'm looking forward this weekend and will be trying to focus on the championship again."
Rea, meanwhile, is the man on form after winning at Brno and Brands Hatch, re𒅌sul🏅ts that mark him out as Pitt's closest competitor now, albeit 42 points adrift.
"After the events of Brands Hatch, I've had a good month off, just relaxing with friends and family, but I really cannot wait to get back on the bike. We had a good test at Donington earlier in the year and the team's Honda CBR60🌞0RRs were on the pace straight away.
"My spirits and confidence a🐈re high right now and the points difference is still achievable. I need to throw caution to the wind slightly and do everything I can to win ag🌜ain."
