Brands Hatch Grand Prix: Mainwaring-Smart sustains broken wrist, trackside official injured

Anvil Hire Yamaha's Howie Mainwaring-Smart has suffered a broken wrist and has been transported to Kings Hospital while a trackside official was also injured.

Anvil Hire Yamaha's Howie Mainwariꦕng-Smart has suffered a broken wrist and has been transported to Kings Hospital for a full medical evaluation after his crash in race one with Filip Backlund, while a trackside official was ♑injured in the incident.

On lap three of the opening race of the final round at Brands Hatch, Mainwaring-Sm🃏art and Backlund collided at Hawthorns Bend 🔯which caused the race to be red flagged.

Upon initial investigation the British rider has suffered a bro🐲ken wrist and heavy bruising and has been transported to Kings Hospital for a full medical eva⛦luation.

Backlund suffered minor injuri𒊎es and after bein💜g checked by the circuit medical centre was cleared to leave.

In the incident, a trackside official sustained a head injury and following treatment at the scene and then at the circuit medical centre was flown by medical🧸 helicopter to St George's Hospital in London for further assessment and treatment.

"Howie was taken to Kings Hospital to be monitored as a precaution after his crash in race one this afternoon," an A𒀰nvil Hire Yamaha team spokesperson said. "We don't know very much at the moment but he was talking to his wifඣe and the medics. As a team we wish Howie the very best recovery and for the trackside official also injured in the incident."

A further update on the condition oꦿf Mainwaring-Smar𒐪t and the trackside official will be given in due course.
