Brands Hatch Grand Prix: Mainwaring-Smart sustains broken wrist, trackside official injured

Anvil Hire Yamaha's Howie Mainwaring-Smart has suffered a broken wrist and has been transported to Kings Hospital while a trackside official was also injured.

Anvil Hire Yamaha's Howie Mainwaring-Smart has suffered a broken wrist and has been transported to Kings Hospital for a full medical evaluation after his crash in race one with Filip Backlund, while a tra𝔉ckside official was injured in the incident.

On lap three of the opening race of the fꩵinal round at Brands Hatch, Mainwaring-Smart and Backlund collided at Hawthorns Bend which caused𒁏 the race to be red flagged.

Upon initial i🅺nvestigation the British rider has suffered a broken wrist and heavy bruising and has been transported to Kings Hospital for a full medical evaluation.

Backlund suffered minor injuries and after being c﷽hecked by the circuit medical centre was cleared to leave.

In the incident, a trackside official sustain𓆉ed a head injury and following treatment at the scene and then at the circuit medical centre was flown by medical helicopter to 🌟St George's Hospital in London for further assessment and treatment.

"Howie was taken to Kings Hospital to be monitore🌃d as a precaution after his crash in race one this afternoon," an Anvil Hire Yamaha team spokesperson said. "We don't know very much at the moment but he was talking to his w✅ife and the medics. As a team we wish Howie the very best recovery and for the trackside official also injured in the incident."

A further update on the condition of Mainwaring-Smart and th🎃e trackside official will be given in due course.
