F1 teams will be permitted to choo💫se which tyre compounds they wish to use in the 2016 F1 season in an attempt to offer up more variety to s⭕hake up the competition.

As it stand⛎s, Pirelli optꦿs for the two dry weather compounds that are to be used during an F1 weekend and race - super soft, soft, medium and hard -, with the variation generally matching the demands of the circuit in question.

However, after criticism that the current format isn't daring enough, the Strategy Group has opted to launch a proposal to open up the rules that will allow teams to choose which two tyre compounds from th💞e four they want to use.

"Free choice of the two dry tyre compounds (o𒈔ut of four) that each team can use dur🍎ing the race weekend," the proposal read.

This will be enforced for the 2016 season, though it is understood to not be the p🥃referred choice of Pirelli, who feels it may see some teams taking too much of a risk at certain venues.

The proposal will still need to be approved by🧔 the F1 Commission to be introduced.
